Not too long ago I was given what I could only assume was meant to be a compliment: I look as if I graduated from What Not to Wear.
The person said that I used to dress not so great, but now I wear great clothes that look good.
I'm not exactly sure what he meant, seeing as how I've been wearing the same clothes for years. As in, I hadn't changed sizes since I was 12 years old, and I tended to hold on to things forever, continuing to wear them. I've decided fashion just finally caught up with my style.
But now I'm about to become a mother. Little Olive is due in 8 weeks, and I don't want to turn into a dorky mom. I want to keep my fashion sense: I am drawn to bright colors, bold patterns, and retro-inspired vibes. I think Olive deserves me looking like a grown-up, but I don't think I need to wear taupe and mom jeans.
