Five Fat Quarter Projects: Kids’ Stuff

I love to sew things for kids. The projects are usually small and simple, so they give me an artificially inflated sense of accomplishment. Do I realize making a dress for my year-old niece is not the same amount of work as making a dress for myself? Yes, but in my head I simply tell myself, “Good job! You made a dress!” In those terms, they’re equally amazing.

So, here I’ve collected a few projects to make for kids that use only five fat quarters or less.

Isn’t this dress so cute? I love the fun play of fabrics by using a complete fat quarter bundle.

Too adorable! If I had a daughter, she’d end up with about one million of these cute little skirts.

Maybe you’re like me. You don’t have kids. But you sure do get invited to a lot of baby showers. Isn’t this an adorable little gift set? I think I’ll whip up a few of these just to have on hand for the next shower I’m invited to.

Or maybe you have kids. You’re throwing a party. How about making this neat treat bags for the kids to take home?

And how about some cute little baby shoes? I couldn’t resist.

  2. These are some great projects for fat quarters. The shoes are my favorite.

  3. Fun to see your fat quarter ideas, Amanda! And to be reminded that there is forever more girl ideas out there than boys ;) I loved the fabrics I got from my partner and am excited to make something with them!!

    • Sky,
You are right. There does definitely seem to be more for girls. (And I tend to highlight them because I’m terrible and love ruffly things.) But…if you check out my Pinterest board, I’ve got a few boy things highlighted there. Not a lot, but a few.
